First, I would like to say- Happy February! If you didn’t know my name is Marisa Burchell, I am 13 years old, and I am the creator/editor of Wildflower. As of now, Wildflower is in the early stages of our road to success but eventually I hope Wildflower will become very successful and girls ALL over the world will recognize Wildflower as a relatable magazine. There are a lot of exciting things planned for Wildflower this month, and I think, before everything happens, it’s very important for Wildflower readers to get to know me. So, every month I will be doing a favorite posts about any music, fashion, beauty products, brands, news, places, etc. That stuck out to me!

Adore You, By: Miley Cyrus
There is something about this song. Maybe it’s the soft beat or maybe it’s just Miley, this song shows a more soft and feminine side to Miley compared to We Can’t Stop, and I adore it. The media often portrays Miley as an “out of control” Disney Star, but people forget that Miley is famous not for “twerking”, but for her voice and this songs is a testament to that!

Prada’s Spring/Summer 2014 Video Campaign
I can’t get enough of this video. Prada’s Spring/Summer 2014 video campaign is refreshing, full of color and excitement, and leaves the viewer full of inspiration. The video provides a forecast of summer/spring trends; knee high socks (commonly worn in the winter), colorful faux furs and coats, bold cat-eye glasses, and bright headbands with a twist. I just love the creative directing of the video, as it shows the models interacting in different social atmospheres. Well done Prada, well done!

CBS News Anchor’s On-Air Response to receiving hate
Wether it be a racist joke, a Facebook comment, or a bully singling you out in the halls– at one point in their life, everyone has been made to feel uncomfortable or different. CBS New’s Anchor, Jennifer Livingston, received an email suggesting that because of her weight she was unfit to be on the news and served as a negative role model to girls. At first, Jennifer laughed it off (as we all might have) but then realized there are millions of kids who deal with the same thing and this isn’t a topic that should be shrugged off. On October 2, 2012, live on the air, she addressed the issue and urges viewers that no matter what their struggling with “do not let your self worth be defined by bullies” and that “the cruel words of one are nothing compared to the shouts of many.” Now if she isn’t the ultimate role model, I don’t know who is.

The Beauty Myth, By: Naomi Wolf
The Beauty Myth is about how images of beauty are used against women. I found it especially interesting, because even in middle school I find it’s a common belief that there is a “definition of beauty.” Myself, I feel beauty is in all, big or small so therefore can’t be defined in a few words. Overtime, I believe if society sticks to this, it can be potentially dangerous because there will be no limit in what people do to achieve this idea of “beauty.” Thats all for now!
